We left Pheonix for the 5 hour drive to Vegas, some incredible scenery along the way and we took some time out to see the Hoover Dam, which is as impressive as everyone has told us. After the drive we didn't feel like doing too much the first night, so we had dinner and then went to the Fontana Bar in the Bellagio. The house band were great and we smashed up a couple of bottles of White Zinfandel!!!!!
Lauren did all the planning for Vegas, and I didn't know what she had up her sleeve, but I wasn't disappointed. Friday she arranged tickets to see Phantom of the Opera at the Venetian, which was utterly amazing. I could go one for hours about, but I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it. I thought Friday night was amazing, but my lovely wife managed to top it with tickets to see Lion King on Saturday at the Mandalay Bay. I dont really know what to say about that show, it was mind blowing. The music, the dancing and the whole spectacle were out of this world, truely!
Oh I forgot, Friday we went to the Titanic exhibition. There were more than 200 real artifacts from the ship, as well as a 15 ton section of the hull. You really need to see this, so next time you're in Vegas, go. It's at the Luxor
We crammed so much into 4 days, and we were really feeling it by Sunday night, but we still managed to get dinner at the Bellagio and another bottle of wine met it's end, infront of the fountains.
Monday we left Nevada and quickly arrived in California. We had a quiet day, as we were both still pretty trashed from Vegas, but we got back in the swing of things pretty well. Tuesday was Universal Hollywood. Being a Tuesday in November, the place was empty, we litterally walked onto all the rides with no waiting at all, brilliant!!!!
Today, that is Wednesday we were at NBC studios to watch the Jay Leno show. It was hilarious, and a really great way to spend the day, plus, it was free!!!!
Tomorrow we have a tour of Warner Bros studios, so I'll report back after that.

Week 4....5 more to go!
So its been a week since the last update and travelled more then 2,000 miles and we have just arrived in Tucson, AZ.
So far we have stopped over in:
Tallahassee
New Orleans
Houston
Dallas
San Antonio
Las Cruces
New Orleans was great, we had a lovely hotel room on the 18th floor over looking the City. We went out that evening to Harrah's Casino and a meal out to Ruth's Chris which we would recommend to anyone!
Dallas we did the John.F.Kennady thing. Went to the Museum on the 6th floor from where Kennedy was supposed to have been shot from, then we went out side to Grassy Knoll which was all really interesting.
In San Antonio we had a great walk along the River walk when we arrived. Then Lee finally got his hair cut in the mall.
The other 3 days where mainly chilling out from the long drives. We had a scary moment when we got pulled over by a Texas County Mounty on our way to Las Cruses!
Tomorrow we have a couple hours drive to Phoenix, AZ then its Vegas for 4 days!!!

So catching up on where we left of...
Epcot was a great day, we got to see and do some great things such as the Test Track, Spaceship Earth and Honey I Shrunk The Audience. We had a nice stroll around the lake and wanted to stay for the evening fireworks but we just got too tired so we headed back to the house. Later that evening we headed to Ruby Tuesdays for a lovely meal.
Saturday was our free day to tidy up the house and catch up on some washing before heading back on the road. We took a trip out to several shops to find some new bags as ours were giving way. That evening we had a great meal at Macaroni Grill.
Sunday we left the house and headed down to Miami Beach. We arrived around lunch time and took a walk down the Boardwalk stopping at a hotel for lunch overlooking the beach which was aweesome. In the evening we stopped in for dinner at Carrabas then a nice walk on the beach to walk of the desert!
Monday we did a few things, firstly we drove down to the Keys, it was stunning. Went back to Miami Beach, had a drive down Washington Av and Ocean Drive then back to the hotel to get ready for dinner at the Chart House, this was the best meal we have had on the trip. We had a nice bottle of wine and the restaurant overlooked Miami Harbour so we had a fantastic view aswell.
Had about a 4 hour drive today to Clearwater, St Petersburg. Took a trip to the beach this afternoon for a little dip and it was freezing!
Tommorrow we are heading to Tallahassee to begin our west bound marathon where we will cover 2,000 miles in a week on our way to Las Vegas.

Sea World and Hollywood Studios...
Howdy folks!
So Wednesday we hit Sea World. It was another crazy hot day, touching 100F again, but we still had an amazing day. There are lots of new rides, as well as the classic Dolphin and Shamu show, which you have to see, they were both amazing!
We went on a behind the scenes tour as well, where we got to touch sharks and pengiuns and see the Polar Bears up close, which was awesome. We also got to see the Dolphins and Manatees up close, it was brilliant.
Thursday we went to Hollywood Studios, which used to be MGM. It's much the same as it was when I came in 96, with a new stunt show, which was mental! We couldn't go on Tower of Terror as a huge thunder storm hit just as we were heading for it, so our day got cut short, which was a shame.
Last night we went to Downtown Disney, and went up in the Balloon that flies 400 feet over the parks, it was an amazing view, if a little scary!!!!
Today were off to EPCOT, but not until this afternoon, we're both shattered!!!

Universal Studios and more...
Monday, our first full day in Florida meant it was time to start on the parks. We had originally decided to go to EPCOT, but in typical Lee and Lauren style, we changed our minds and went to Universal Studios.
Last time I went there was 1996, and some parts have changed a lot, but it was great that some rides are still there. The park was very quiet, as it's out of season, so we never had to queue for more than 10 minutes for everything, and as we bought Express tickets, we went straight on to most of them.
Jaws is still there, and still cool, so is Terminator 2 3D. Back to the Future has gone, as has Kong-frontation, but they have been replaces by some cool rides. MIB, Mummy Returns and Shrek 4D.
The weather decided it would touch 100F yesterday, so it was pretty toasty walking between rides. Lauren and I were both well cooked by the time we left for home thats for sure.
Today, Tuesday we went out to the Kennedy Space Centre. I'm a bit of a space geek and Lauren wanted to see it. We were lucky enough to see the Shuttle getting ready to leave for the Launch pad tomorrow morning, that was pretty cool. Another crazy hot day today as well, 95F when we left Kennedy at 5pm!
Tomorrow we're off to Sea World I think, but who knows, that may all change by the morning lol

Saturday and Sunday.....
Well here we are, the sunshine state, thats Florida in case you were wondering. As I've spent the last hour working our how this Blog dooberry works, I've included a snap or two below...
In case you were wondering, this was 8am this morning, and it wasn't that hot, hence Laurens Cardigan!!!!!
And yes, we are sharing the driving.......
Had a nice night in Savannah on Saturday, big storm, which was cool to watch. Left bright and early this morning for the short(ish) run down to Orlando. As we drove further south, it got hotter and hotter, and by the time we got here around noon it was 95F, which in old money is about 35C.
Our house is lovely, we'll post some photos of it later in the week, when we've had a chance to wreck it! Had a lazy afternoon, did some food shopping and I made dinner for us, which we enjoyed by the pool with a cold glass of Zinfandel, very nice it was too!!
Tomorrow is day 1 of our Disney Adventure. We're starting with EPCOT, for no other reason than it's the first one we thought of!
Enjoy your day at work, for those of you checking this at your desk!

Washington Day 4 and beyond...
Well, Thursday was another busy day, did some shopping, Lauren has worn out a pair of shoes already, but they were made of tissue paper and cost 9 pence, so hardly surprising. Met some more of my old work mates for beers, and beers and beers, had a great laugh, I miss them all loads.
Friday morning and we were up and at 'em at 8.30!! Loaded the car and we were on the road, headed for North Carolina. I had a route in my mind, that would take us across the Chesapeake Bay, down through Virginia and into NC, which it did. Only thing was it took us 8 hours, when the TomTom route did it in 5, my bad!!!
In the hotel now, after a cracking dinner at the Texas BBQ place down the street. Georgia tomorrow, 336 miles to cover, so I figure we'll do it in 4 weeks easy!
Night folks, or good morning for those of you reading it at work, or get a life, for those of you reading it on your iPhone!

Washington day 3
After a lazy start once again, we went to Baltimore for the day. We headed to the National Aquarium. It took us quite a while to get there as Lee kept getting us lost!
Had a great day at the Aquarium, saw the dolphin show and everything.
Later we went to dinner with some friends of Lee's from when he lived here.

Washington DC, day 2
After a not too early start this morning, we went on a walking tour of DC. White House was first, and we arrived just as President Obama's motorcade pulled up, that was an impressive sight to say the least. With all those vehicles, I wonder if he gets a multi-car discount on his insurance. Maybe he should compare the market!
Weather was great again today, so we walked all along the Mall to the Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Wall and the WWII memorial, all of them brilliant.
Tonight we're heading out for dinner and then it's Baltimore tomorrow.

Washington DC
Hi folks, sorry it's taken us til now to get this thing going, we've not had any internet til tonight.
Arrived safe and sound in Boston last Thursday, after collecting the rental car, which turns out to be a Toyota Prius and has a boot smaller than a budgies lunch box, we headed for the first hotel. Foolishly, Lauren put me in charge of booking the hotel, and being a Red Sox fan, I thought I'd get one right next to Fenway Park, only the Sox were at home Thursday night, and we had to park in Canada and walk to the hotel, but it could of been worse I suppose!
Friday morning we hit the shops to grab a few things we couldn't bring with us, like clothes apparently, then off to Rhode Island. My cousins Barbara and Shirley and their families live there, and we had a great time with them. I expect they're reading this so a big thanks to you all, especially Barbara and Dave for their hospitality.
We left Rhode Island this morning and made it a whole hour before Lauren needed a pee, but despite that, we got here in DC around 4pm. I won't lie, it was a tough drive, but it's the longest drive we have to do over the next 9 weeks.
Tomorrow we're being proper tourists and doing the DC thing, will report back later.
